Sackville School

Vision & Values

Sackville aims to provide individual learning, based on traditional values, in a caring and positive atmosphere:

Traditional Values

"Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil".    C. S. Lewis

We believe that traditional values remain vital to a good education. Sackville students are expected to wear uniforms, to be polite, respectful and considerate towards others. Expectations are unashamedly high and discipline is firm but fair.

Individualisation

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer".    Henry David Thoreau

Sackville is committed to extremely small class sizes in order to allow our teachers to treat each child as an individual. We also believe that small class sizes can only be fully effective if teachers are trained to teach to them properly. We place a great emphasis on ‘differentiation’ which is defined as the adjustment of the teaching process to accommodate the needs of the individual pupils.

Positive Atmosphere

"The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet".    James Openheim

Education at Sackville takes place in a positive, friendly and happy family atmosphere. This is not a bi-product achieved by chance but a powerful and integral element of our school’s success. Simply put, we believe that teachers teach better and students learn better when they enjoy the process.

Teaching Excellence

"The mediocre teacher tells.  The good teacher explains.  The superior teacher demonstrates.  The great teacher inspires".    William A. Ward

We believe that the quality of a child’s education is defined by the quality of teaching.  Inspirational teachers are the hallmark of a top school.  Here at Sackville we strive, above all else, for excellence in teaching.

Positive, friendly, happy atmosphere

"The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet."
