The Curious Theatre Company

“We are not a stage school, we think differently”

For those students who wish to continue Drama beyond the curriculum, The Curious Theatre Company was set up as an alternative to the plethora of stage schools on offer to young people in the area.  What makes it different?  Led by our charismatic Drama teacher, Siobhan Fogarty, children are taken on a creative journey devising unique performances.  Their ‘toolkit’ is exploration, improvisation, curiosity and risk taking.  This is all delivered in a supportive, friendly atmosphere by experienced practitioners so, whether your child is an aspiring thespian or simply seeking a place to make new friends and gain confidence, they will enjoy being part of the company.

Artistic Director, Siobhan Fogarty, performed as a professional actress for over twenty years which included two years at the Royal Shakespeare Company, productions at The Royal Court and The Globe.  She starred in three series of Tony Robinson’s BAFTA winning children’s drama ‘Maid Marion and Her Merry Men’ and had parts in most British television soaps.  Siobhan left acting to concentrate on writing, directing and producing short films and documentaries.  Her first screenplay ‘Monica Olé’ was winner of the ‘Women in Film & Television & Avalon Productions’ screen writing award and made into a feature film.  She went on to write numerous episodes of the CBBC animation ‘Boo’ and the BAFTA winning BBC series ‘The Chuckle Brothers’.

Siobhan now draws on all this experience to teach Drama through to A Level at Sackville School, often writing customised scripts tailored to her students’ strengths.  Her plays and schemes of work are also regularly published by educational publishers.  Past experience of working for franchised stage schools led Siobhan to want to create something different- something, we believe, is a unique and innovative drama company for young people.   Open to 5 to 18 year olds from all schools, The Curious Theatre Company meets in Sackville School’s new studio theatre, The Space, on Fridays, term time from 4.30pm to 6.00pm.  Why not give it a try and join us on our dramatic journey?
