BIG BIRD WATCH January 2012

Middle of January saw the launch of 'Really Big Schools Bird Watch' run by the RSPB, 16th - 30th January. Mr Perry is heading up this adventure. The school ran the bird watch last year and this is something we will continue to be involved with on an annual basis.

With the help of all the children we can help the RSPB monitor birds in this area and help to conserve the ever decreasing numbers of a lot of British birds such as the House Sparrows, Starlings, Blackbirds, Chaffinches and Robins to name a few. Please use the link below to go onto the RSPB's website and find out information on how you can help.

SACKVILLE SCHOOL CONSERVATION GARDEN

Sackville School Eco club will begin after the Easter Break with the building of the Conservation Garden. This term has already seen the launch of the 'Design Your Fantasy Sackville Garden'. Once the pupils have entered their ideas we can begin to put together a plan for the garden. Aspects of the garden will include areas to attract butterflies, moths, bubble bees, which like the birds, are in decline and at the same time introduce the pupils to a new environment.

This activity will mainly be run by Miss Phelps with the expert help of Mr Perry. Miss Phelps is looking to progress and get the pupils of Sackville School involved in the Royal Horticultural Society's award scheme for Schools. We have a long way to go but hopefully a lot of fun getting there.

All Risk Assessments will be carried out.
