Yr 10 Geography Trip to Swanage
Posted on 21 May 2010Year 10 Geography trip to Swanage
On Tuesday 21st April, fourteen GCSE students gave up a day of their holidays and headed to Swanage for the day. Although we spent a long time travelling there and back, it was well worth it. The weather was glorious and excellent visibility meant we could see the Isle of Wigh t and the Needles from Studland.
During the course of the day we considered sustainable management at Studland Beach and identified plants growing on the sand dunes. Next stop was Swanage where we enjoyed fish and chips by the sea before evaluating coastal management.
At Lulworth Cove we saw evidence of rock movement at Stair Hole and erosion of a concordant coast. Never ones to take the easy option, the Geographers headed to Durdle Door by foot up a steep path. Never has an ice cream van been such a welcome site, for students and teachers!
The weather and the company made for a great day out.
