Sackville School

Music

Music at Sackville caters for all ability levels and all styles. Vital to our philosophy is the mantra that ‘music  is for all’, and like other Performing Arts subjects, can play an important part in character development and the accruing of confidence ; consequently we do not focus on a small group of talented individuals but on all pupils who wish to participate in the musical life of the school; our choir, for example, is open to all who simply wish to have a sing. We have a talented and committed peripatetic staff who teach across the instrumental spectrum, and in addition to the Choir and the Chamber Choir, our forces include a successful Jazz Band. The Music Department is a thriving, busy, but above all, a welcoming department in which pupils feel at ease as they participate.

Spring Lunchtime Concert

Last Thursday saw the resumption of our ‘Music at Lunchtime’ series. We were fortunate to have our guitar teacher, Mr. Ben Grove, in attendance, and he shepherded various pupils through their performances. Notably, we had our first Banjo performance for a long time and two brothers dueting on the guitar and bass together. In addition, the Year 7s performed in public on their trumpets and trombones for the first time. The Green Room was packed to the rafters as pupils gave fantastic support to their friends and we look forward to the next such occasion.
