Lent Term 2012 workset
Ms Siobhan Fogarty
Before Sackville
A professionally trained actor (trained at East 15 on a scholarship from Albert Finney) with years of experience on stage and in front and behind the camera. Work includes two years at The Royal Shakespeare Company and performances at the Globe and Royal Court. Television work includes the BAFTA winning children’s series “Maid Marion and Her Merry Men” playing Rotten Rose and I have appeared in most of the UK soaps. My work behind the camera includes writing and directing, for Channel 4 (Documentaries) the BBC (“The Chuckle Brothers” and “Boo”) and I was awarded The Women and Film Television Screenwriting Award for my first feature film script “Monica Ole” which was made into a film. I spent many years directing theatre shows for Stage Coach both in the UK and Europe and continue to do so. My part time work at Sackville lead to a PGCE in teaching and eventually joining the school full time. I also now run “Teenstagers” a Friday night performing arts school here at Sackville. Performing specially written plays and creating inventive, cheeky, anarchic daring theatre.
Why I enjoy my subject
In today's increasingly polarized and intolerant culture, the ability to understand others' motives and choices is critical and studying drama helps to do this and in turn build responsible individuals. I am eager to be part of a process which helps others realize their full creative potential.
Why I enjoy Sackville?
The school is known for its commitment to children and to the community and I feel proud to be part of a services that can make a difference in people's lives. I am able to be creative, use my own ideas, and my own words and experiences to do what I want to do.. help others.
My favourite Lesson?
I enjoy teaching the practical side of Drama where students learn to create full on performances from a couple of inspirational ideas, it’s literally creating magic and that is a sheer joy to be part of.
Other roles
Year 9 Tutor and Head of Falconcrest House and I run Teenstagers
Passions
My children, my family and friends, theatre and music and obviously George Clooney.
