Lent Term 2012 workset
Mrs Vicki McGrady
Before Sackville
I studied Law at Bristol University after which I spent a year in France working as an Assistante Anglaise in a secondary school. This was followed by a year at theCollege of Law and a training contract with Clifford Chance, where I qualified as a solicitor in 1995. After qualification, I stayed with Clifford Chance and worked in their tax department before moving to the Capital Markets Group at Ernst & Young, where I assisted in the provision of tax advice on corporate transactions.
After a career break to bring up my children, I started teaching Law in 2004. I have taught at colleges of further education and also for the Open University across a range of legal subjects such as the English legal system, criminal law, contract law and tort.
Why I enjoy my subject
Law is an academically rigorous and interesting subject which I really enjoy teaching. Much of the material can be linked easily to current affairs and lends itself well to interesting discussion and debate.
Why I enjoy Sackville
Sackville is a very friendly school with great students who are motivated and enthusiastic. I think that the respect with which everyone treats each other is a real strength of this school.
My favourite lesson
I enjoy all of the lessons that I teach!
Passions
My family would always come top of my list, closely followed by an interest in books and history. I try (but don’t always succeed!) to exercise regularly and also very much enjoy travelling, particularly in France.
