Sackville School

Lent Term 2012 workset

HOMEWORK

Mrs Maureen Norris

Before Sackville:

I spent the first fifteen years of my career in design and development engineering. After graduating with a BSc Hons in Engineering I was on my way to Germany to work for Deutsche Telekom but was waylaid by my now husband when I was visiting Fujitsu. Over the years I have been involved in many exciting telecommunications projects, along the way picking up  Chartered Engineer status , MSc ( from research completed with British Telecom) and European Engineer (Eur. Ing).  After a break to have my family I completed a PGCE in secondary Mathematics and have worked both in the state and private schools.

Why I enjoy my subject?   Mathematics, in my view, is one of the keys to understanding the world. Its applications are all around us and I really enjoy helping students to understand this.

Why I enjoy Sackville

The school is just the right size to be able to allow students of all abilities to achieve their potential.

My favourite lesson

How long have you got?  But if I was forced to choose it would be an algebra lesson.

School Roles: Maths teacher KS3, 4 and 5, Year 9 tutor.

Passions:  My family - I am married to an amazing, kind and tolerant man (he may be reading this!) and I have wonderful teenage children (well as wonderful as teenagers can be!).

Walking in the English countryside – As a family, we use as often as we can, the extensive network of footpaths that connect and interconnect across the county.
