Lent Term 2012 workset
Mrs Elena Kerr
Before Sackville
After University I spent time working in Marketing and Sales. On deciding to change career, I completed my PGCE in Scotland and have taught in Surrey, Germany, Australia and Kent.
Why I enjoy my subject
History is a way of looking into peoples’ lives and being generally nosey and the fact that it links in with the present. Our whole world is affected by what has happened in the past and it is incredible that we can look over it and try to understand it.
Why I enjoy Sackville
The pupils are the biggest draw. The fact that they are very tolerant and kind to each other and that they want to learn.
My Favourite Lesson
There are so many. I love year 8 and year 9 lessons where we are able to role play great Historical events is great but then studying the demise of the Weimar Republic and the implications for the world in year 11 is also academically rewarding.
Passions
My husband and my 2 young daughters are my biggest passion. Being married to an Army Officer has also made me feel very proud of the Armed forces and I try to get involved in military causes. Travelling, hill walking, running and reading are also an important part of my life
