Sackville School

Before Sackville

Was there life before Sackville? …..mmm ….. I can’t remember!   I joined Sackville in 1995 after spending a number of years at home raising my children, and yes I remember, I did have a life before Sackville.  The careers advice given to me before leaving school was that I should become a teacher but at the time a school was the last place that I wanted to be.  I started out on a graduate scheme with the Civil Service and eventually I took up a post in the DHSS.  Following this I moved into Personnel Management and then Banking which took me overseas where I also taught English to foreign students in my spare time.   I think my careers adviser would be delighted to know that although I am not a teacher I am involved at Sackville School!

Why I enjoy my job

The best aspect of my job is watching the children progress through the school and grow into young men and women.  My job is quite varied and no two days are ever the same.

Why I enjoy Sackville

I love the atmosphere at Sackville, it is friendly and welcoming, and of course we are in a beautiful environment; I could be sitting on a commuter train instead of travelling through the countryside on a bicycle.

Other Roles

I am also a First Aider and as such I accompany some of the off site trips.

Passions

I have many passions.  I have been fortunate enough to travel and experience many cultures, architecture and languages – all of great interest to me.  I love the sea, skies, the arts, painting, sculpture, upholstery, nature and photography.  I am actively involved in a variety of sports (some more extreme, skiing and scuba diving) and when I am too tired to do anything else I love to read.  I was introduced to my newest passion last summer in Scotland - fly fishing.  Can’t wait to go again!
