Mrs Amanda Pink
Before Sackville
I originally trained as a medical secretary and have work for a local GP, Guy’s Hospital and The National Hospital for Nervous Diseases. After that I worked for 6 years as a PA to 2 partners in a Chartered Accountancy practice. I then took time out to have a family and I am mother to two daughters and one son. When I returned to work, I fitted this in around my family and I worked at a local crèche and then started work for Chartered Accountants. When my youngest child started school, I felt I needed a new challenge and I began working at a local infant and primary school in Platt, which I did for 2 years.
Sackville
In 2000, I started work at Sackville School on a part-time basis and my hours here have gradually increased. I work in the school office and I feel my job is to help with the smooth running of the school, assisting, parents, student and staff alike. Starting this year, I am specifically assisting Mrs French, the Examinations Officer with her work with a view to taking over this role in the future.
Why I enjoy Sackville
I enjoy the interaction with the students and the camaraderie with the staff. No day is ever the same!
Other Roles
I have been fortunate enough to be invited to assist with school trips both home and abroad and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the staff and students on these trips, although they can be very tiring especially when there is an early start. Mr Foster-Gandey keeps assuring me that “sleep is over-rated”!! I also enjoy participating in the school charity events, for example, being part of the staff football team (we won!)
Passions
My family will always come first with me although my children have virtually flown the nest. I enjoy the usual things like, taking part in all sports, reading, cooking, music, going to cinema and theatre, and am open to new challenges. In the past I have abseiled down Chelsea Barracks, completed the Moon Walk twice and mastered the Army Assault course at Woolwich. I like to live life to the full and will give most things a go, within reason.
