Art and Design Homework
Trinity Term 2012
(First Half)
Students in year 7, 8 and 9 are set one piece of art and design homework each half term. Students should spend at least 2 hours working on each piece of homework. All students in years 7, 8 and 9 are provided with a plastic folder in which to transport their homework to and from school. Written feedback from the teacher can be seen on the assessment sheet inside the plastic folder. In most cases, the homework should be completed on A3 cartridge paper provided by the art department. Year 7: Create a collage made from pictures of a similar colour or objects cut up into irregular shapes. Gather pictures of a similar colour or subject matter from the internet or magazines. Cut these out into irregular shapes to fill an A3 sheet. Make sure you use at least 25 pieces of cut out paper and your work fills the space on the A3 sheet. You should spend at least 2 hours on your work.
Year 8: Create a picture of a surreal hand using media and techniques of your choice. Research some examples of surreal hands on the internet and in books. Choose the materials you will use to create the artwork. This could be a drawing, painting, collage or digital art. It may be helpful do create a small rough sketch before you begin. Your work should show imagination and skilful use of materials. Ensure your work fills the A3 paper. You should spend at least 2 hours on your work.
Year 9: Create a coloured picture of butterflies using media and techniques of your choice. Research some examples of butterfly art on the internet or in books. Choose the methods you will use to create the artwork. This could be a drawing, painting, collage or digital art. It may be helpful do create a small rough sketch before you begin. Ensure your work fills the A3 paper. You should spend at least 2 hours on your work.
Year 10: Students should complete the majority of their homework tasks in their portfolio workbook. Students are set tasks specific to their project which they should spend at least 90 minutes each week. Details of these tasks can be seen in the student planner.
Year 11: Students should complete the majority of their homework tasks in their portfolio or externally set task workbook. Students are set tasks specific to their project which they should spend at least 90 minutes each week. Details of these tasks can be seen in the student planner. *Please note that students must decide the nature of the homework task for the externally set task.
