Mr Ian Collier
In a previous life, my time in banking brought me from Warwickshire in the Midlands to “the Garden of England”. My 32 years was passed mainly in the high street, interspersed with some years in the business sector, sojourns at Group Offices and secondments with internal audit. The latter posting taking me to places as diverse as Brixton, Brighton, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. It was good though to have the opportunity for a career change just as the banking industry began to rival estate agents as the most disliked professionals!
I enjoy every minute working at Sackville. Having previously been Chair of Governors at a local school, it is good to be working in the educational sector again, supporting the staff and parents here. Certainly the view from my office, looking across the playing fields is more pleasant than it was in banking when most windows had bars on them!
My own active sporting days are now a distant memory but when not in school, I enjoy following rugby (a close affinity for the Tigers) and Formula One. I do not get to many matches as I am more of an armchair supporter these days. Cycling has become a new pastime and I even read the occasional book!
