Sackville School

Enrichment Programme

Sackville Sixth Formers are expected to play a role in the wider community- within the school generally, within the Sixth Form community and in the wider world.  This is an opportunity for young people to give something back whilst gaining essential life skills; we call this enrichment. There are a number of activities that students can get involved in, some of which are listed below -

Sixth Form Leadership Team - there are a number of student led roles which are active within the school community

Sixth Form productions - help backstage, front of house or in a production. There are further opportunities to become involved with our in-house theatre company which meets after school on Fridays.

Lesson assistance - helping a teacher (preferably in a subject you are interested in) once a week with their lesson. It could involve help with a particular group of students, but it will always be under the direct supervision of the teacher. There are also opportunities to assist with younger pupils at a local Prep school.

Duke of Edinburgh - this is a widely recognised award and a great addition to a CV.

British Sign Language - a short introductory course to the skill of signing

First aid course - a recognised qualification in emergency first aid

Personal finance - a four hour seminar will cover a wide range of finance related topics/information needed throughout daily life

Gym membership - full membership at the local gym to maintain fitness levels in a safe and fully equipped environment.

Young drivers safety course – in addition to the offer of driving lessons all students attend a road safety course.

Survival cooking - sessions are designed to teach the basics of cooking and how to prepare a range of meals.

Sports coaching - become qualified as a Level One coach

All experiences are recorded in a Personal Enrichment Portfolio and used as the basis for writing CVs/Personal Statements.
