Careers Education
February 25th - Evening Careers Fair
Parents and students from Years 11, 12 and 13 will be able to find out information on a whole range of careers from representatives who are practitioners in the field. As part of our ongoing Careers programme this will be a valuable opportunity for our students to evaluate the options open to them.
Careers Education at Sackville
Our students receive highly personalised careers advice and guidance to enable them to make those choices, throughout their education, which will influence their future. Resources in the careers library are updated on a regular basis and students have access to exciting careers software on the school intranet. This is supplemented by advice and guidance provided by our Careers Co-ordinator and the 'Connexions' Personal Advisor who visits the school regularly. Career profile assessments are offered in Year 10 and individual career consultations take place in Year 11 and the Sixth Form.
As part of the curriculum, students complete work experience placements in Year 11 and Year 12. There are further opportunities for work related learning, and guidance is given on the completion of CVs and interview techniques.
The majority of Sackville students choose to progress to Higher Education on completion of their A levels and we offer individual support in researching and applying for courses. Year 12 students attend a UCAS convention and they have extensive guidance throughout the application process. Those students who prefer to take an alternative route into employment/training receive appropriate guidance.
