Sackville students to attend the ‘West Kent Schools Themed Book Awards’ at the Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells on 18th March
Sackville students have joined with fourteen other secondary schools across the West Kent region in forming reading groups to choose an outstanding book on the theme of ‘Secrets and Lies’. The results will be announced at an awards evening on 18th March, which will be attended by the students and local dignitaries. The evening will involve music, entertainment and a discussion with two award winning children’s authors. Following their highly acclaimed performance at last year’s award’s ceremony, our Drama students have been invited back to perform at this year’s celebrations.
Mums Achieve 100% GCSE Pass-Rate
Every parent fears the day when their dwindling mastery of school mathematics is exposed by a child’s request for help with homework. For a group of four parents at Sackville School this problem was neatly averted when they started an evening Maths class at the school last year. In fact the class, taught by Head of Maths Janys Sherwood, was so successful that the group decided they themselves would enter the GCSE examination in November. The results came through this week and all four are now proud owners of pass certificates for GCSE Mathematics.

Tickets are now on sale for the first Sackville Drama and Arts Festival
Those of you who came to Cruel Yule and survived to tell the tale, will now know that the standard of work achieved by Siobhan Fogarty in the Drama Department is quite simply astounding. I have been teaching for nearly twenty years and am genuinely awe struck at the innovative, exciting and professional standard our students achieve under Mrs Fogarty’s watchful and creative eye.
Some of the Cruel Yule performances will be featured at the Arts Festival giving you an opportunity to share this work with even more family members, and perhaps friends whose children would benefit from Sackville’s creative Arts programme. There will be performances from our GCSE and A Level students who will present extracts from their practical examination work. The evening will include items from the Music Department as well as some special appearances from staff. We are also delighted that some Old Sackvillians will be supporting us in the lighting design and backstage.
Displays of Artwork and DT practical projects will be on show in the foyer, and naturally, we have a few surprises planned to make the most of the building and add to the occasion.
Please join us in supporting this Sackville event and helping to make The Stag the vibrant community Arts Centre Sevenoaks deserves.
Tickets are available from The Stag Box Office on 01732 450175. You may also email on enquiries@stagsevenoaks.co.uk or visit the theatre in person.
