Sackville was founded in 1987 to meet the needs of pupils of broad ability who would benefit from an education in intimate surroundings.
We aim to prepare all of our young people for adult life by giving them a fine education and by instilling confidence and awareness of their talents and abilities, along with care, tolerance and good manners towards their fellow citizens.
We give more time to each individual. We motivate each student to discover and develop talents and abilities. We believe in teamwork. All students are given the opportunity of working together in a team whether it is on the sports field, in music or drama, or producing the school magazine.
Success, in whatever area of life, is the greatest boost to confidence and is the key to improved performance. Sackville staff do their utmost to help each student become successful, by encouraging his or her talents both inside and outside the formal curriculum.
Sackville's philosphy is simple; what is important about a child is what he or she is good at.
Whatever it is you are good at - Art or Archery, Mathematics or Music, Communication or Chemistry, Geography or Golf; French, Film Making or Football, Dance, Design or Drama, we expect you to become very good at it.
At Sackville, we encourage and assist students to develop their talents and strengths and bring out their best.
At the same time, when areas of weakness are identified, we work carefully with the students to improve them.
Sackville is very different from other schools in the way we manage our individual boys and girls.
With small groups, everyone knows everyone else and there is nowhere to hide. The small groups allow each member of our teaching staff to understand individual students learning needs and to identify talents.
Students are taught according to each persons needs to ensure their success. Sackville, by design is a small school. The student roll will not exceed 200. Class sizes are kept small, with 16 the norm in years 7 to 11 (up to GCSE), and 6 in Years 12 and 13 (A level).
